Taxi and vehicle collide leaving seventeen injured 10km outside of Harrismith in the Free State.

Seventeen people were left injured this afternoon when a taxi and a light motor vehicle collided on the N3 highway, approximately 10km outside of Harrismith in the Free State.

ER24 paramedics, along with several other services, arrived on the scene to find the taxi lying on its side on the side of the road. The light motor vehicle was found in the middle of the road.

Several patients were found lying around on the scene.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that seven had sustained critical injuries while ten others had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

Paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured with advanced life support interventions.

Once treated, the patients were transported to various hospitals for urgent care.

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
