Woman assaulted in Lotus Park in attempted robbery of cellular phone while waiting for a taxi

A woman was seriously assaulted and almost robbed of her cellphone whilst waiting to board a taxi near the boomgate in Lotus Park yesterday.

Alpha Alarms members did not respond to the incident as it was reported much later. However, upon investigation, Alpha members searched for the victim and attempted to retrieve info about the perpetrators.

The victim was visibly shaken and sustained injuries in the attack. According to her the suspect attempted to grab her cellphone from her hand when he jumped from behind the powerbox but she resisted. He then assaulted her even using a gun which she later realised was a toy as it broke before he tried to grab the cellphone. The assault and attempted robbery allegedly occurred in view of community members who failed to assist the victim. She claimed she ran to another patrolling private security response vehicle (known to Alpha Alarms) who pushed her away and drove off whilst the suspect was allegedly still on site.

Another motorist who had a firearm stopped to assist and the suspect fled the scene.

Alpha members are on high alert for marauding criminals who prey on unsuspecting and vulnerable members of the community.
