One person has been killed and four others serious injured after a head-on collision on Shallcross Road near Alpine Drive in Shallcross on Saturday evening around 6pm.
Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find total chaos. Two vehicles lay extensively damaged after a head-on collision. Two occupants were severely entrapped in the one vehicle. One of the passengers who was also entrapped had sustained major injuries and Paramedics assessed him and found that he had unfortunately passed away before their arrival. With the help of the Durban Fire Department the other entrapped patient was cut free using the Jaws of Life. A total of Four patients were stabilised on the scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being transported to various Hospitals for the further care that they required.
At this stage the events leading up to the head-on collision is unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
