15 People suffer smoke inhalation from a building fire in Escombe Road in Pinetown

Fifteen people have suffered from smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at a commercial building in Escombe Road in Pinetown earlier this afternoon.

Just after 16h00 Rescue Care Paramedics together with the Durban Fire Department arrived on the scene to find parts of the building on Fire. Fire Fighters worked quickly to contain the blaze. Fifteen people who were in the building at the time of the blaze have been treated on scene by Paramedics for smoke inhalation and have since been transported to various hospitals.

The Road was closed whilst emergency personal worked to clear the scene.

At this stage the cause of the fire is unknown however SAPS and Durban Fire Department were on scene and will be investigating further.
