Crimes against women and children remain a priority for the police in the province and police will bring perpetrators of these crimes to justice. Last night, 21 January 2018, a 43-year-old man was stopped in his tracks by Nyanga police when they responded to a complaint of a man who allegedly raped and threatened a woman with a firearm in Browns Farm.

Upon their arrival at the residence, they found the suspect in possession of a firearm with live rounds of ammunition.

The suspect was arrested and once charged he is expected to appear in court for rape, illegal possession of firearm and pointing of a firearm.

The Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape, Lieutenant General KE Jula, commended members for addressing one of the province’s crime generators and encouraged women to report all forms of abuse to the police.
