Driver killed when crashing into steel barrier at Mt Edgecombe

A 49 year old man was killed after his vehicle collided head on into a metal barrier on the south bound lane of the R102 near the Virgin Active Gym in Mt. Edgecombe a short while ago.

At approximately 19:46 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the scene by passing motorists reporting the accident. Upon arrival paramedics assessed the driver of the VW Polo and found that he was fatally injured in the crash. He had suffered an extensive head injury. The deceased’s identity has been established.

Circumstances surrounding the accident has yet to be established.
