A 4-month-old boy was left critically injured following a fire at a residence on Baker Street in Bloemfontein, yesterday afternoon.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find the local authorities and Fire Services already on the scene.
Paramedics discovered that members of the community had assisted the family to evacuate their burning home, who were now found in another home across the street.
Assessment of the family showed that a 4-month0old boy had sustained serious burn wound over most of his body, leaving him in a critical condition.
Treatment and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated, in an effort to stabilize the patient’s condition.
Once treated, the patient was transported to Pelonomi Provincial Hospital for further treatment.
The cause of the fire is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
