A police officer was shot and killed during one of two fatal shooting incidents in Wonderboom and Lyttelton Manor

At approximately 19H50 on Wednesday evening 07 February 2018, Netcare 911 responded to reports of a shooting in 11th Avenue, Wonderboom.

The incident occurred outside a block of flats and reports from the scene allege that the victim had been shot during an apparent vehicle robbery and that his accomplices had fled the scene. The unidentified man died at the scene and documentation pertaining to his death was completed by Netcare 911 and handed over to authorities. The man appeared to be approximately forty years old.

The SAPS were on the scene and investigating the incident.


Then at around 21H30, paramedics responded to reports of a robbery and shooting at a popular fast food outlet on the M19 in Lyttelton Manor.

Reports from the scene allege that a police officer inadvertently walked in on an armed robbery and was shot and killed.

Multiple Emergency Services attended to the incident and there was a strong police presence at the scene.
