A pedestrian was killed after he was run over on the M4 in the vicinity of the La Mercy Lagoon this afternoon.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the scene by passing motorists reporting the incident. Upon arrival it was established that the pedestrian was run over by a Hyundai i30 while he attempted to cross the busy stretch of road.
The pedestrian was critically injured and was transported to Osindisweni Hospital by a private ambulance service. While on route he succumbed to his injuries and demised in the ambulance. The driver of the Hyundai i30 sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Victoria Hospital.
The vehicle was extensively damaged in the accident.
