A man was injured after he was shot during an altercation on Wick Street in Verulam during the early parts of this morning.
At approximately 04:36 members of Reaction Unit South Africa was called out to the scene after receiving a call from a member of public reporting the shooting.
Upon arrival it was established that the injured man and his girlfriend left a bar in the Verulam CBD and were on their way home to Canelands when they were accosted by an Indian male who began swearing at them.
An altercation broke out between both men when a second suspect who was armed with a shot gun appeared and shot the victim in the back without warning. Both suspects fled the scene on foot. Paramedics stabilised the victim on scene before transporting him to hospital in a stable condition.
Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search for the suspects however no arrests were made.
