Tow truck crashes into bridge in Verulam

At approximately 14:51 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to Sapphire Road in Everest Heights – Verulam after receiving reports of a motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival it was established that the driver of a Ford Courier tow truck was returning from a garage after purchasing fuel in a plastic container. The storage container did not have a cap. As the vehicle cornered a bend on Sapphire Road the container overturned and the fuel started to spill. The driver attempted to grab the container however in the process lost sight of the road and collided into the bridge.
