Wanted suspects, including former police reservist, stopped in their tracks when apprehended in the Burgersfort Cluster.

Limpopo: The Strategic Focus of the South African Police Service in the province that is aimed at eradicating all forms of criminality, especially Trio Crimes (business robberies, house robberies and car hijackings), is constantly bearing positive results, this after the arrest last night 2018-05-09 when six (6) most wanted suspects were apprehended in the Burgersfort Cluster.

In a well-coordinated intelligence-driven operation comprising of members derived from various police units, these notorious suspects were picked up one by one whilst asleep at different locations. The suspects, whose ages range from 23 years to 30 years, include an ex-police reservist.

The members followed up on information about these suspects who have been tormenting community members in the Burgersfort Cluster, committing serious crimes ranging from Murder, Attempted murder, Business and House robberies to Carjacking.

One(1)suspect was arrested in Groblersdal, Three (03) others were cornered at Bothashoek and Ga- Mashamotana villages outside Burgersfort. The other two (02) were nabbed in Tafelkop and Leukau also in the Groblersdal Cluster.

A former police reservist who is believed to be the kingpin behind these crimes, was arrested at Ga-Selala village in Mecklenburg policing area. Subsequent to his arrest, two (2) pistols and a rifle were recovered at his home.

The suspects were subsequently linked to the following crimes:

• Two (2) armed robberies at Burgersfort Engen garage
• Two (02) armed robberies at Nwj Tubatse crossing mall
• Two (02) armed robberies at PPS garage in Burgersfort
• Hijacking of a Toyota Avanza and murder in Burgersfort
• House robbery in Tubatse
• Four (4) business robberies in Ga-Mashamotane and Ribacross
• Attempted murder during a shootout with the police last week in Burgersfort
• Carjacking in Tubatse.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has commended this team of investigators for a well coordinated operation that led to the apprehension of these suspects.

All six (6) suspects will appear before the Burgersfort Magistrate’s Court soon.

Police investigations are continuing.
