Car crashes into tree leaving one dead, four injured off the N1 in Joostenbergvlakte in the Western Cape

A woman was killed and four others injured, including two children, when their light motor vehicle crashed into a tree in the centre median off the N1 in Joostenbergvlakte in the Western Cape, this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, were dispatched to the scene at 10h05.

Upon arrival, paramedics found a light motor vehicle in the centre median against a small tree.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics found a woman lying partially outside the front passenger seat of the vehicle. The woman was assessed and found to have sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life.

Paramedics immediately initiated CPR and provided the woman with advanced life support interventions. Unfortunately, after 20 minutes, no vital signs returned and the woman was declared dead.

Four other people were assessed on the scene. Two adults and two children, believed to be aged between 3 and 5, were found with minor to moderate injuries.

The patients were treated for their injuries and were thereafter transported to Kraaifontein Day Hospital for further treatment.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
