An unidentified man has been killed while attempting to cross the northbound lane of the R102 between the Trade Centre and Phoenix offramps this afternoon.
At approximately 18:10 members of Reaction Unit South Africa was called out to the scene after receiving multiple calls from motorists requesting medical assistance for the critically injured pedestrian. Upon arrival, he was assessed by Medics and found to have sustained a severe head injury which resulted in his death.
It is alleged that the occupants of the VW Caddy that was involved in the accident were returning to their home in Phoenix after attending a prayer in Reservoir Hills – Durban when the incident occured. The occupants of the vehicle were not injured.
The vehicle was extensively damaged in the accident.
