Woman Killed in Collision While Crossing Road in Verulam

A woman was killed while attempting to cross Todd Street between the entrance of Oaklands Drive and Everest Heights in Verulam yesterday morning.

At approximately 07:09 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the scene by passing motorists and pedestrians requesting medical attention for the critically injured pedestrian. Upon arrival Medics assessed the woman and found that she had succumbed to her injuries and died at the scene.

It is alleged that the two woman are residents of Redcliffe near the Verulam Quarry and were on their way to the Verulam CBD to collect used cans. While attempting to cross the road one of them was run over by a Toyota Hiace taxi.

The driver was the only occupant of the taxi and was not injured.
