Mahindra recognises its top-performing dealers

Pretoria, July 2, 2018: Mahindra South Africa recognised its top-performing dealers at a gala event in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal recently.

The event coincided with the dealers’ visit to the new assembly facility for Mahindra vehicles at the Dube TradePort at the King Shaka International Airport and was addressed by Arvind Mathew, the Chief of Global Operations for Mahindra & Mahindra.

The evening’s top prize for Dealer of the Year went to Mahindra Montana, Mahindra Pretoria North and Mahindra Brits. These three dealers were the top performing in the categories for large, medium and small dealers respectively.

“Over the past five years, we have seen our market share grow by 4.6% per year as we added more models to our line-up and more customers joined the Mahindra family,” says Rajesh Gupta, the CEO of Mahindra South Africa.

“Such rapid growth can be detrimental to the brand if the dealer network does not support the growing customer base with good service quality and support so we would like to thank each dealer for his part in helping us maintain our high standards.”

At the dealer awards, Mahindra emphasised the importance of good service quality and support with its special Balanced Scorecard Award. This award, handed out to dealers in the small, medium and large categories, evaluates overall dealer performance – including sales, after sales and parts availability – as well as customer sales and service satisfaction.

In the Balanced Scorecard Category, Mahindra Brits, Mahindra Goodwood and Mahindra Bloemfontein took top honours in the small, medium and large dealer categories. Mahindra Rivonia, in Johannesburg, in turn received a special award as the best performing new dealer.

“To be recognised for the Balanced Scorecard, a dealer has to maintain an average score of over 80% in all the measured categories. These include service, sales, market share and customer satisfaction, to name but a few,” says Avinash Bapat, Chief Financial Officer of Mahindra South Africa and main adjudicator of the prize. “We are encouraged by the number of dealers of all sizes who qualified for this prize in 2017 and look forward to welcoming even more dealers in the future.”

Mahindra entered South Africa in 2004 and has since grown to become one of the six top bakkie-brands in South Africa with models such as its locally assembled Mahindra Pik Up and its value-for-money Mahindra Bolero. It also entered the league of the fastest growing brands in the last five years, thanks to its combination of rugged and reliable engineering, modern technology and its growing range of bakkie and SUV models.

“Mahindra has over 60 dealers across South Africa and offers nationwide roadside support. At the recent dealer awards, many of our dealers in smaller towns and regions, such as Heidelberg and Klerksdorp, won prizes, which proves that customers are in good hands regardless of where they live,” says Pratyush Bose, head of the Mahindra South Africa After Sales division.

According to Hans Greyling, the national head of sales for Mahindra, this year’s competition was one of the most hotly contested in Mahindra South Africa’s history. “We are very excited about the level of competition between the dealers, as it signals a high level of customer centricity and we believe that it will only benefit our customers in the future.”
