One killed, two injured in shooting incident on the N3 highway near the Market Road in Pietermaritzburg.

One man was killed and two others injured this morning following a shooting incident on the N3 highway near the Market Road in Pietermaritzburg.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find a taxi covered with bullet holes, parked in the fast lane. Three men were found lying in the centre median.

Upon closer inspection, Paramedics fund that one man had sustained numerous gunshot wounds and was in a critical condition while a second man had sustained a gunshot wound to his leg, leaving him in a serious man. The third man was found with dog-bite wounds to his arm and leg.

Paramedics began to treat the patients and provide the critically and seriously injured man with advanced life support interventions.

While treating the critically injured man, paramedics found that his vital signs rapidly diminished. CPR and further advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated. Unfortunately, after some time, no vital signs returned and the man was declared dead.

The seriously injured man was transported to a nearby provincial hospital while the third man was taken into local authority custody.

The details surrounding this incident will be investigated by local authorities.
