38 years old male suspect arrested minutes after hijacking, Bluewater Bay

Swift recovery and arrest followed a hijack of a white Nissan NP200 delivery vehicle at the parking lot at Pick n Pay, Bluewater Bay.

At about 10:30, the 28-year-old driver and his 24-year-old passenger were about to deliver boxes of skin care products when they were approached by two armed suspects. They demanded the vehicle and took the passenger with them in the bakkie and sped away, leaving the driver behind.

After the SAPS was alerted of the hijacking and abduction, Swartkops police members found the passenger in Jijana Street, Wells Estate where he was dropped off by the robbers. A quick search in the area resulted in the bakkie being found at 10:50 in the bushes of Wells Estate. As police approached it, four (4) suspects jumped out and fled in different directions. The SAPS members managed to arrest one of them, a 38-year-old male. It is suspected that a second silver coloured unknown bakkie was also involved by the suspects, and police are searching for it. The cargo comprising of about 45 boxes of skin care products were missing from the delivery vehicle.
