Police condemn acts of violence perpetrated against children

The South African Police Service in Limpopo condemn in the strongest possible terms the acts of violent crimes perpetrated against children.

This condemnation follows an incident which occurred in Vuwani outside Thohoyandou at Lwamondo Tshifulanani village where a two-year-old toddler was allegedly killed by his own mother in the early hours of this morning, 29 August 2018 at around 02:00.

It is alleged that the 40-year-old mother of three was sleeping with her children in a separate room when one of the family members heard some screams and woke up to investigate. That is when she made the gruesome discovery of the lifeless body of the little boy dumped at the entrance of the house and the mother sitting next to him.

The Police were summoned to the scene and responded immediately. They then started with their initial investigations and subsequently, the child’s mother was apprehended on the spot. The motive behind this incident is still unknown but the ongoing Police investigations will tell. The suspect will appear before the Vuwani Magistrate’s Court soon to face a charge of murder.

Members of the community are urged to consult their local relevant professionals for intervention in case of any social related situation, instead of resorting to violence.
