Police shot gun taken in Hermanus protest retrieved suspect apprehended
The partnership between police and community is yielding much needed results. This morning Hermanus SAPS retrieved the third firearm, a shot gun robbed from police during the violent Protest Action in May 2018 when unknown suspects took three firearms from the police. In the course of the robbery a police official sustained serious injury after being attacked with an axe. Two other firearms have since been recovered. The suspect has been charged with possession of illegal firearm and ammunition. He will appear in court soon.
Provincial SAPS management has commended the role played by the community in ensuring the shot gun was returned to the police.
