Members from the Uitenhage Cluster are determined to continue with their efforts to effectively address one of the root causes of crime and with our Back to Basics approach of targeted and informed deployment of resources, SAPS members will continue to seize drugs and arrest those involved. Members from SAPS Kamesh followed up on information and immediately obtained a search warrant last night, 26 September 2018, at about 20:15, which led to the arrest of a 50-year-old male suspect. The suspect was arrested during an intelligence-driven operation that was conducted at a residence in Kamesh Road, Uitenhage. The suspect will face a charge of illegal dealing of drugs, after 150 mandrax tablets and R6932-00 cash was found in his possession. The value of the confiscations amounted to almost R16 000-00. The 50-year-old male suspect is expected to appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court soon.
The acting Uitenhage Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ronald Koll said: “Police visibility will be enhanced in the Uitenhage Cluster and the SAPS will continue to conduct random stop-and-search operations in the Uitenhage Cluster”. “The purpose of these operations are to effectively address these crime generators and we need to ensure that our communities are rid of illegal substances”.
