“This is the kind of work we are expecting from all our high way patrols. Well done to the Grahamstown High Way patrol. As a result of your vigilance, a robbery has been solved within 24 hrs. This is a best practice that when robbery is reported all high way patrols must be vigilant,” said Lt Gen Ntshinga, Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner.
In the early hours of this morning members of the Grahamstown highway patrol were busy at an accident scene on the N2 near Seven Fountains. A BMW approached the scene and was stopped by the members. There were six occupants in the vehicle. The members then searched the vehicle and found an undisclosed amount of cash and airtime. Two 9mm pistols, several 9mm rounds and toy gas gun was also found in the vehicle and seized.
Preliminary investigations suggests that the suspects are possibly linked to a robbery that took place yesterday in the province.
The suspects face several charges including possession of unlicensed firearms and unlawful possession of ammunition.
