Police looking for man who allegedly insulted Deputy President

Members of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga are looking for a man who, on 28 July 2018, allegedly uttered defamatory comments against the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa.

Information at police disposal suggests that on the day in question, there was a meeting that took place in Khotso Hall at Embalenhle, Govan Mbeki Local Municipality. In that meeting, the man allegedly made the derogatory utterances which have the potential to cause serious harm, impair the dignity and tarnish a person’s image.

The alleged damning utterances which bear elements of a crime, were also captured on video which has gone viral on social media circles. Subsequent to that, a Crimen Injuria case was registered at the Embalenhle Police Station, hence this appeal.

It is believed that Mr Bishop Mahumela may be able to assist police in their investigation. On that note, Mr Mahumela is therefore requested to urgently contact the Investigating Officer on the matter or, for anyone with information on his whereabouts to do the same by contacting Brigadier Botsotso Moukangwe at 082 304 0020.
