Three people were killed, and three others were injured following a vehicle collision on the R554 past Leondale in Johannesburg this afternoon.
When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene shortly before 13H00, they found a child lying on the shoulder of the road. Two vehicles were standing on the opposite side of the road.
Upon further assessment, paramedics found that the child sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. Paramedics also found two others who had sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead at the scene. Two were found with serious injuries, and another was found to have sustained moderate injuries.
It is believed that the young pedestrian was hit before the vehicles collided.
ER24, as well as various other medical services on the scene, transported the patients to hospital for further medical care.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
