Vehicles collide and dog killed in crash after dog ran into the flow of traffic near Ottawa intersection

Three vehicles were involved in a collision after a dog ran into the flow of traffic on the south bound lane of the R102 near Ottawa intersection.

At approximately 06:18 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the scene after receiving multiple calls from the public reporting the incident. Upon arrival it was established that a dog ran onto the road when a VW Polo knocked into it.

The driver of an Isuzu bakkie which was travelling behind the VW Polo braked suddenly to avoid colliding into the vehicle in front of it when it was rear-ended by a Toyota Hilux bakkie. A Toyota Corolla then collided into the Toyota Hilux bakkie. The dog was killed and the VW Polo that knocked the animal drove off without stopping. The owner of the dog was not located.

The occupants of the vehicles involved in the accident were not injured in the accident.
