The station today embarked on a deforest project in Extension 11 where the area is a hotspot for various crime such as robberies and rapes.
Stakeholders included Community Work Programme (CPWP), Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), Community Patrollers, Community Policing Forum (CPF), Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Working on Fire, Maquassie Hills Local Municipality and Department of Public Works.
The project kicked off with the Station Commander, Col Gaolatlhwe Senwedi, thanking the stakeholders for being part of the project. “Crime prevention is the duty of police, but it can’t be won if community at large are not part of fighting this scourge”, he said.
The stakeholders ensured that the project become a success by contributing tools, protective clothing and machines.
