Mpumalanga: Members of the South African Police Service in Nelspruit have today, Friday 12 October 2018, pounced on a 38 year old man, following a robbery that took place on 21 September 2018, in the city’s CBD.
The arrest of the suspect follows an incident wherein a 30 year old man was allegedly accosted by approximately six men who poured acid on him and robbed him of his cellphone before fleeing the scene.
Following this incident the police managed to track down the suspect at his hideout, around Valencia Park in Nelspruit where he was then nabbed. The suspect is due to appear at the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 15 October 2018, facing a charge of robbery with a weapon other than a firearm.
Police are making an appeal to anyone who may have fallen victim to the suspects’ antics, but could not open a case, or have information in general about the remaining suspects to contact Detective Colonel Ernest Maoka at 082 318 9843.
Meanwhile, police are looking for a group of men who robbed a clinic at Phiva in Nkomazi, near Malelane.
It is alleged that in the early hours of this morning, about six men stormed the local clinic and held staff at gunpoint. They then robbed them of three computers before fleeing the scene.
