An intoxicated man was arrested by members of Reaction Unit South Africa after he discharged his firearm in a bar on Todd Street in Verulam.
Reaction Officers were called out to the premises after receiving a call from an employee of the bar reporting shots being fired. Upon arrival RUSA Officers were informed that during an argument with his girlfriend a man drew his firearm and fired two shots. The suspect was still on the premises and was pointed out to Officers.
When approached the suspect became defensive. Reaction Officers managed to restrain him and upon searching him recovered the firearm used in the shooting. Two 9mm spent cartridges were recovered at the scene. His girlfriend who was also intoxicated and other patrons in the bar were not injured.
The suspect was handed over to Police for further investigation.
