Ten suspects to appear in court for cash in transit robbery

At least ten suspects aged between 29 and 42 years are expected to appear at the Mahikeng Magistrate court today (Monday) following their alleged involvement in a cash in transit robbery on Sunday, 30 September 2018 in Mahikeng.

The North West Hawks’ cash in transit team assisted by Crime Intelligence and Mmabatho Flying Squad launched an intense manhunt after the suspects allegedly bombed an armoured vehicle, disarmed the security guards of three firearms and fled the scene with a sizable amount of money.

Seven suspects were rounded up in villages around Mahikeng – Lomanyaneng, Magogoe and Matlhonyane) – while three were arrested in Itsoseng.

Amongst those arrested, are the three security guards. Their alleged stolen firearms were found dumped in a nearby bush not far from the crime scene.

The homes of the suspects were searched and some of the alleged stolen was seized as well as two firearms and ammunition were also recovered while combing the houses.

The National Head of the Hawks Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya has applauded the prompt arrest by the integrated team.
