ATM suspects robs pensioner in Umdloti Beach

A retired 60 year old Tongaat – KZN resident lost a total of R13 400 when his card was stolen from a Standard Bank ATM.

According to the victim, he attempted to use an ATM next to a restaurant & bar on the Tongaat Main Road. He inserted his card , punched in his pin code and the machine did not dispense any cash. He then attempted to remove his card without success. Whilst waiting at the ATM he was approached by two African males who attempted to use the machine. They then got into an gold colored VW Polo driven by a third suspect with registration number NUR 69946 and fled.

Whilst attempting to notify his bank of the incident, the victim received a cellphone notifications that his card was used to draw R4650. Later he received a second notification that R2009. 99 was swiped at a Spar Supermarket at Umdloti Beach and then the card was used to swipe for a liquor purchase of R6799.84 at a Tops Liquor in Umdloti Beach.
