Fraudulent cellphone contracts in Ballito

A 31 year old Tinley Manor resident has contacted Reaction Unit South Africa seeking assistance in locating a suspect that fraudulently signed up four mobile phone contracts in her name with Cell C at Ballito Junction in KZN.

The female informed a Reaction Officer that she received a call from a Debt Collecting Company earlier today (Tuesday) demanding R7000 for an overdue payment due to Cell C. The woman then contact Cell C and was informed that she owed a further R12 000.

It was later established that the four contracts were signed and the suspect was handed two IPhoneX and two Samsung Note mobile phones in August & September 2018. All four contracts were signed by the same salesman at the same store with an approx value of R1300 – R1500 per contract p/m.

Records indicated that the suspects used a fraudulent identification card with the correct details, an unknown id picture, a fabricated bank statement a fabricated pay slip with the victims correct work details. Residential details provided also matched the victims previous home address in Tongaat – KZN. Video footage of the suspect will be made public when received.
