Police receives brand new vehicles in Kimberley

On Monday, 19 November 2018, the SAPS held a Motor vehicle handing over ceremony at Kimberley SAPS K9 Unit where 85 cars were handed over to the specialised units to enhance service delivery to our various Northern Cape communities.

Detectives from the SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit, The Vehicle Crime Investigations Unit, Stock Theft and other crime investigation units in order to increase performance in terms of detection rate, trial readiness and conviction rate, to ensure that the SAPS finalise registered cases, speedily.

Major Gen Koliswa Otola said, “the province is vast and the limited resources makes it difficult for the members to reach certain places, but now with these Toyota double bakkies will assist to get them in time to rural areas and cover these cases.”

The members received Toyota Hilux bakkies and Hyundai H1 kombis. The Flying Squad received 8 Golf GTI’s and 8 Toyota Fortunners were given to the Tactical Response Team.

Lt Gen Peter Shivuri emphasised that he wants to make sure that crime against women and children as well as Trio crimes are attended to accordingly.” The Provincial Commissioner sensitised members to look after the vehicles and not abuse them.
