Today, MEC for Transport. Community Safety and Liaison, Mxolisi Kaunda officially opened the multi-millon Rand taxi rank and infrastructure at Maphumulo.
The cost of the taxi rank and market stall infrastructure to construction was R8.7 million.
MEC Kaunda was accompanied by Ilembe District Municipality Mayor Cllr Siduduzo Gumede, Maphumulo Local Municipality Mayor Cllr Zibuyisile Khuzwayo-Dlamini and Inkosi Bhengu, who unveiled the plaque signifying the official opening of the rank infrastructure.
They then proceeded to do a walkabout at the rank infrastructure and engage with commuters and market stall holders, and hand out safety promotional material.
Thereafter, an official community engagement took place with members of the Maphumulo Local Municipality and community members.
