Two illegal firearms and ammunition seized

Willowvale Police arrested a 28-year-old man for possession of unlicensed firearm namely a pistol with five (5) rounds of ammunition. The suspect was arrested on Sunday, 02 December 2018 at about 23:05 at Willowvale Main Street. Police members were on patrol when they came across the suspect. They searched him and found the firearm with rounds of ammunition.

In a separate incident Willowvale Police arrested a 47-year-old man for possession of unlicensed firearm namely a pistol with no rounds of ammunition. The suspect was arrested at Willowvale Squatter Camp on Monday, 03 December 2018 at about 03:00. Both suspects will appear before the Willowvale Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 04 December 2018 on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition respectively.

The firearms will be sent for ballistic tests to establish if they were not used in the commission of crimes around Willowvale and the surrounding areas.
