24-Year-old mother of the critically injured two year old girl identified

The 24-year-old mother of the two-year-old girl that was admitted to Dora Nginza Hospital have been identified late on Friday afternoon. The mother, as well as the 22-year-old female that took the girl to Motherwell Clinic, both resides in Wells Estate.
The mother allegedly left the little girl at her friend to go visit family. It was also alleged that the girl had an epileptic seizure and fell on her head, causing the serious injury. The friend apparently then dropped the little girl off at the clinic in shock to go and search for the mother. The mother alleged that there was confusion about where her daughter was admitted but did manage to visit her child later that day.
The attempted murder case that was opened is continued to be investigated by the Motherwell Cluster Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit and no arrests have been made. Investigators expressed that the allegations are being investigated and that all evidence are being gathered.
The condition of the girl remains critical at Dora Nginza Hospital and is still on life support systems.
