Eight Scholars Injured In Collision in Verulam, KZN

Eight primary school pupils aged between 6 & 13 were injured following a collision at a housing complex behind the Waterloo Spar in Waterloo, Verulam on Friday afternoon.

At approximately 15:02 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the scene by the community requesting medical assistance for the injured. Upon arrival the children were treated by Medics for minor to moderate injuries before they were transported to Osindisweni Hospital by ambulance.

It was established that the scholars were being transported home in a Toyota Hiace mini bus taxi from Lotusville and Umdloti Primary school at the time of the incident. As the vehicle was travelling downhill a Nissan NP 200 bakkie attempted to turn out of a side road and collided into their vehicle. The driver of the Nissan NP 200 bakkie was unlicensed.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged.
