Despatch police probe business robbery after 5 armed men hit spaza shop

Police are investigating a case of business robbery after five armed men robbed a spaza shop in Despatch today.

On Sunday, 10 February 2019, at around 6pm, it is alleged that five armed men entered the shop, one of the suspects held the owner at gunpoint, while others ransacked the store. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes before fleeing the scene on foot.

At this stage, it is unknown whether the suspects used a getaway vehicle during the incident. The suspects are still at large and no person was injured during the incident.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or the nearest police station.
