Robbery suspects arrested: Walmer

Eight suspects, including 3 juveniles, were arrested shortly after a corner shop was robbed yesterday morning, 25 February 2019 in Walmer.

It is alleged that at about 10:00, five suspects entered the shop and held the complainant at knife point. The shop assistant was assaulted. The suspects ransacked the shop taking clothing and shoes belonging to the complainant while other suspects helped themselves to groceries and food.

Police received information about the possible whereabouts of the suspects and they were arrested in a shack in Area Q and the stolen property was recovered. Five adults and three juveniles were arrested and detained.

The juveniles (2 females and a male) were released in the custody of their parents. They will appear in the Port Elizabeth magistrates’ court on Wednesday, 27 February 2019 on a charge of business robbery.
