Suspects arrested for various crimes

Police members are working closely with the communities in fighting crime in King Williams Town and surrounding areas as they managed to arrest more than twenty (20) suspects.

Last night around King Williams Town suspects were arrested for various crimes such as theft, possession of stolen property and assault. Police also recovered a Hyundai H100 on the N6 route about 20km away from Queenstown and arrested one suspect and charged for theft of motor vehicle. It alleged that the vehicle was stolen in Port Alfred beginning of February 2019 and was then confiscated by Police.

In a separate incident around the King Williams Town Police members together with Detectives followed a lead of suspects in the Breidbach area at about 01h00 and two suspects were arrested. A 26 year old male was arrested at Tamara for Burglary and Police also recovered a sound system and a computer that were stolen in a house beginning of February 2019. Within two weeks after cases were reported Police managed to trace the suspects and recovered the stolen property. This was done through the assistance of the community and Police appreciates the working relationship between them and the community.

All suspects are due to appear in different Magistrate Courts today and tomorrow.

The Cluster Commander of King Williams Town, Brigadier Luntu Ngubelanga commended the members and encouraged them to remain focused and continue to fight crime. He appreciates the efforts by the community members in sharing the valuable information that led to these arrests.
