Taxi boss killed in Tongaat

A taxi boss was gunned down at a service station on Watson Highway in Tongaat – KZN.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the scene after receiving multiple calls from the public reporting the shooting. Upon arrival the South African Police and Emergency Services were on scene.

The victim was found lying face down on the forecourt. Paramedics assessed him and found that he had sustained a gun shot wound to his face and his foot. Due to the extent of his injuries he died at the scene.

It is alleged that the deceased drove into the garage in his BMW and was ambushed by at least two suspects who were already at the service station. The gunmen fired a volley of shots in his direction as he got off his vehicle. Several spent 9mm cartridges were recovered at the scene. The deceased was in possession of a firearm which was recovered next to his body.

The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage.
