Substance abuse and gender based violence addressed by Police in Brits

Substance abuse and gender-based violence are some of the primary social ills that are prevalent in the community. It is for this reason that Jericho SAPS in collaboration with Borakalalo National Game Reserve as well as Madibeng Sub-district, Department of Education and local Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) embarked on an awareness campaign to sensitise learners about the toxicity of drug abuse.

Furthermore, wild animals kept at Borakalalo Game Park are more often subjected to criminal activities such poaching. Thus, members of the community were warned of the repercussions of being involved in such activities. The momentous event started with a 16km fun walk from Legonyane village community hall to the Borakalalo National Game Reserve. Participants of various age groups were in a jubilant mood as they were partaking in the “walk for change”.
