A business premises on Old Main Road (Phila Ndwandwe Road) was robbed by four male suspects, one of whom was armed, a short while ago.
Alpha Alarms Response Units were dispatched to the store upon receiving a panic activation and on arrival, were informed that 4 men entered the store and purchased a steel window frame.
As staff were opening the security gate to hand the men the frame, the gang forced their way through and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the tills. One suspect brandished a firearm whilst the other 3 suspects searched for the cash. The suspects grabbed the cash and fled on foot. They got lost in the crowd.
Alpha Alarms Response Units are standing down at the premises and are awaiting SAPS on site.

This is the second hardware store to be robbed by armed suspects in 2 days in Isipingo Rail.
Suspects in both consecutive hardware store robberies pretended to be customers and were well-dressed.
Business owners are urged to beef up security and implore staff to be vigilant.
Watch for suspicious persons. Ensure that your alarm system is fully functional. Keep your panic remote close at hand. Security gates must be well secured.
