Missing child found alive in Mooiplaas

GAUTENG – The Police in Erasmia could now breath a sight relieve after reunited a two-year-old child with her mother on Monday 27 May 2019.

According to information, the child was last seen by her aunt playing in the street with other children on Saturday 25 May 2019. The mother Plexceds Zimunhu (38 years) alerted and reported her missing child to the local authorities after she could not find her shortly after 11am.

The police immediately embarked on search and rescue operation in Mooiplaas Informal Settlement. The past two days the child could not be located and the operation was called off on Sunday evening However, a team of Search and Rescue (k9), Erasmia SAPS crime prevention members, Detectives Services and Mooiplaas residents resumed the search operation today, and with the help of police chopper the child was located at the bushes near the Informal settlement. The child was found alive and she was taken to a local hospital for observation.

‘I want to thank Erasmia SAPS for their commitment and dedication in making sure that my child is found alive, I have not been able to eat or sleep for the whole weekend thinking about my child in these freeze weather conditions, I have been praying to God to keep my daughter alive,” said the mother.

The Station Commander of Erasmia SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Thandi Mokgoetsi. “I want to thank everyone who was involved in these massive search and positively reuniting the child with her mother, I urge residents and parents to ensure that they know the whereabouts of their children at all times, and I want to encourage the public to report a missing person immediately at their local police station as there no waiting period to report” said the Mokgoetsi.
