A 39 year old man was injured after the occupants of a white Toyota Avanza opened fire on him while walking home this afternoon.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to Old Inanda Road in Verulam after receiving reports of the shooting. Upon arrival Medics assessed the pedestrian and found that he was grazed by a bullet on his neck.
The victim explained that shortly after leaving his place of employment he was walking home when a passenger in the Toyota Avanza suddenly fired two shots in his direction. The suspects vehicle then made a u-turn. The victim ran back to his place of employment and sought assistance from his work colleagues.
The motive for the shooting has not been established at this stage.
