Police probe hijacking of furniture delivery truck in Kwanobuhle

Police are investigating a case of hijacking after a furniture delivery truck was allegedly robbed by four armed men in KwaNobuhle yesterday, 23 May 2019.

On Thursday, 23 May 2019 around 06:15pm, a 59-year-old driver of a furniture delivery truck alleged that four armed men, of whom two had firearms accosted and threatened him outside a house of a customer in Kula Street, KwaNobuhle, where he was delivering furniture. The driver alleged that the two suspects with firearms held him at gunpoint and forced him out of the driver’s seat and tied him up while the suspects drove off. It is said that the other two jumped on the back of the truck. It is further said that the victim (driver) was later dropped off on the Rocklands Road near Uitenhage, where he managed to free himself and hitchhiked to Uitenhage Police Station, where he reported the incident.

On Thursday, 23 May 2019 around 8pm, police recovered the stolen truck torched and abandoned in an open space near Zolile Nogcazi Road, KwaNobuhle. Police are urging anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect to contact the nearest police station or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
