The widespread crime in Isipingo continued unabated when three ruthless suspects armed with a firearm and knives attempted to rob a store in the Isipingo CBD and shot a customer before fleeing empty-handed, on Saturday.
Alpha Alarms Response Units responded hastily to the scene after receiving a panic alarm. The suspects had however fled on foot into the busy CBD and dispersed into the thronging crowd.
It is alleged that three suspects attempted to accost a customer and a tussle ensued, resulting in the customer being shot.
The suspects panicked and fled empty-handed into the CBD.
The shot victim was quickly rushed to hospital.
SAPS was on scene.
It is unknown if the roving armed gang of robbers who are wreaking havoc in Isipingo are the same suspects or if there are different suspects who are targeting businesses.
