PARKTOWN – Last night, 27 July 2019, a group of armed men allegedly robbed people at a tavern at West Village at about 00.30. During the robbery, a woman was shot and killed while five people were injured and taken to hospital.
Furthermore in the early hours of the morning, today 28 July 2019, two people were found killed in the informal settlement of West Village. One man was caught by the community and assaulted before being rescued by the police. The suspects are alleged to be part of a group who were terrorizing the community last night. He was taken to hospital under police guard.
The community started to protest since last night following the fatal shooting of a woman during a business robbery at a tavern. Police have been deployed in the area. The suspects ran away after police launched a search in the shacks at West Village in Krugersdorp.
The R28 between Randfontein and Krugersdorp is closed police will continue to monitor the situation.
The arrested suspects will appear in Krugersdorp as soon as he recovers from his injuries.
