Eksteen and Cahill do it again

NELSPRUIT, MPUMALANGA August 26, 2019 – Returning to Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit for the second year, the Toyota Warrior #5 race, powered by Reebok, presented by Jacaranda FM, saw participants of all fitness levels gun for glory across gruelling new obstacles for a day of adrenaline-pumping action and epic family fun.

The day, however, belonged to Black-Ops Elite racers Claude Eksteen and Nadene Cahill, who proved, once again, why they deserve their place among the OCR greats.
In the high-action, Black Ops Elite race, 2019 SA OCR Champion Claude Eksteen stormed to the finish ahead of Armin Botha who finished second, and Tian Basson who took third place, to seize victory by a margin of 34 seconds ahead of Botha and 2 minutes 42 seconds ahead of Basson.
In the Women’s Black Ops Elite race, 2019 SA OCR Women’s Champion, Nadene Cahill (AirTeam) took the podium by a whopping margin of 10 minutes 59 seconds ahead of teammate Trish Eksteen (Air Team) and Sabrina Daolio who took the third position, 13 minutes and 22 seconds behind Cahill.
In the Commando Elite men’s race, a 10 km, 22-obstacle course, Johardt Van Heerden took first place (49m33s), Nelius Swart came in second (51m58s), and Calen Hastie took third place (52m).

The women’s race was won by Sammy Nel (1h04m01s), in second was Vyvekah Lumley (1h15m40s), and taking third place was Elma Kemp (1h17m35s).
The shortest and most fun-packed race of the day, the Rookie, saw young athletes crawling, climbing and jumping through the course. The Rookie Elite men’s podium finishers were Ricardo Rebelo (34m33s), Cayde de Waal (36m14s) and Alwyn Deetlefs (41m49s), coming in first, second and third respectively. In the women’s elite race Ashley Button (44m42s) took gold, Megan van Tonder (49m02s) took silver and bronze went to Claire Denton (1h56s).
The event also saw little adventurers experience the specifically-designed 1km, 8-obstacle course and exercise their bodies and minds to #BeMore because it’s never too early be a WARRIOR.
