In the early hours of the morning yesterday, police officers from the National Intervention Unit conducted an intelligence-driven operation at KwaMashu Hostel searching for suspects involved in the murder and robbery of security guards last month. The operation led to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of three firearms with a total of 38 rounds of ammunition.

A search was conducted which resulted in the discovery of a rifle with 30 rounds of ammunition and a shotgun with six ammunition. The suspect was immediately arrested. In a neighbouring home, the second suspect (29) was arrested after he was found with a pistol in his possession. The firearm which had its serial number filed off had two rounds of ammunition.
