Five suspects arrested for possession of firearm, stolen goods, attempted murder and armed robbery

KING WILLIAMS TOWN – Determined to prevent all acts of crime which may threaten the safety of the community, Mdantsane Operational Command Centre (OCC) members intercepted the suspects following armed robbery of courier vehicle in Kei Road and arrested five suspects aged between 24 and 46 year old, for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of possible stolen goods, attempted murder and armed robbery in Mdantsane on Tuesday, 03 September 2019.

A chase ensued and the suspects shot at the police but they were later apprehended. The suspects were found in possession of R4 rifle, two pistols and several rounds of ammunition. Initial police investigation led to a search of properties in Mdantsane and Amalinda where boxes of cell phones and pots allegedly belonging to the courier company were discovered.

The suspects are due to appear in the Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court soon once charged.
